When you open a document using Word or Excel (at least 2010, 2013, 2016), does it want you to enable editing? If it does, and you just want the document editable, then follow these steps.
- Click the “File” menu in the upper left corner
- Click “Options”
- Click “Trust Center” in the left pane
- Click “Trust Center Settings”
- Click “Protected View”
- Uncheck all 3 options under protected view and click “OK”
- Click “OK”
Now next time you open a document, you should not have the protected view where you have to click “Enable Editing”.
***Doing this is at your own risk, as that is a protection so that unsafe things can’t just use your computer. If you are using documents off of the internet where you don’t know where they are coming from, I would not suggest doing this. ***
